Task "address" reported error (0x80190193) : The operation failed
Hi,
I realise this has been answered in some length else where on the Exchange forums, however none of the answers seem to fix this error for me.
Basically - we had a 2003 to 2010 mixed environment and everything was working. Whilst i was away for the birth of my child, my manager decided to remove our 2003 server and format it, thinking it was no longer needed as all mailboxes are now on 2010...
Since this everything works other than the OAB. I create a new user and they appear in the address book if we dont have cached mode enabled on our clients and if we log in to OWA they appear, however when we try to download the OAB we get this error.
I have checked that our Default Offline Address Book has web based distribution and public folder distribution enabled and is assigned correctly to the mailbox database. I have also restarted the relivent services etc and given it just under 24 hours to
replicate etc, but we still appear to be getting this error.
I have checked and i have the relivent LZX files appearing in both the OAB\SID location within ClientAccess and V14 location.
Any thoughts at all before i phone MS support and get one of the specialists to take a look?
Cheers,
Rich

Answer given from another forum:
Not sure what you mean, can you post a screen, blank out the domain and any
data of the external address.
The OAB address should show the GUID at the end, and that GUID should match
exactly what the GUID is on the Exchange server in the "C:\\Program
Files\\Microsoft\\Exchange Server\\V14\\ClientAccess\\OAB" folder.
If you mean at the top of the test where it shows the "Internal" and
"External" URL's let me know. These can be found and changed if needed in the
Exchange management console by expanding "Server COnfiguration" and clicking on
"Client Access". THen in the top pane, click the server hosting the OAB, and
then in the lower pane click the "Offline Address Book Distribution" tab. In the
below pane double click the OAB to bring up it's properties.
The "URL's" tab is where your internal and external URL locations for getting
the OAB are located. If the internal is set to your web mail address and your
clients are not allowed to access OWA from the inside then this would cause your
issues. Simply change the address to your internal mail server hosting the OAB
and virtual directory.
You can double check this with the Exchange command shell by entering the
following command and examining the output.
Get-OabVirtualDirectory
-Jay
The answer was to change the internal URL of the OAB to point at our internal server name rather than the external webmail\OWA URL. As soon as i updated that, everything worked.
